Further Instructions from Repton School

Structural Design Associates have a working relationship with Repton School spanning more than 20 years, and therefore are pleased to be appointed for the Structural Engineering Design role for the proposed Precinct Teaching Block.

Architects Franklin Ellis of Nottingham have been appointed as a result of a design competition, together with Derby Quantity Surveyors, Armsons, and Structural Design Associates completing the team.

Previous Structural Design Associates' appointments by Repton School have included refurbishment of Listed Buildings as well as extensions and new build projects providing teaching, accommodation and sports facilities.  In 2012 the refurbishment and extension of the 400 Hall provided state of the art theatre facilities for the school, and received the RICS Regional Award for Design and Innovation.

Structural Design Associates are keen to ensure that the Precinct Teaching Block follows suit.

Masseys DIY

Long established DIY retailers Masseys have completed work on their new build store with local contractors, Hardwick Construction.

Structural Design Associates were proud to have been appointed to provide the Structural Engineering design for the building, which now provides some 17,000sq.ft of retail space, plus warehousing, offices and a garden centre.

Construction started early April 2013, and is now complete.

With architectural design having been carried out by local practice SG Design, it was good to see a local business using local contractors and professionals to deliver this important project.

New Theatre Complex opens at Repton School

Structural Design Associates have worked with Repton School for in excess of 20 years, and are particularly proud of this recent project as completed by Wildgoose Construction.

Providing a magnificent facility for music and drama teaching and productions, a state of the art theatre has been formed within the shell of the 400 Hall.  Structurally challenging was the requirement to open up the original proscenium to the full width of the auditorium and provide additional seating accommodation by incorporating a balcony of cantilever construction to give uninterrupted viewing throughout.

Access to these facilities is through a new Foyer Reception building, which features full height glazed elevations and prominent cantilevered roof.

Repton Preparatory School, Foremarke Hall

2011 saw the commencement on site of the first phase of the Quad Development, providing new classroom facilities on the site of a former quadrangle to the Grade I Listed Foremarke Hall.

This phase provides general teaching classrooms and Music School facilities and is to be followed by further phases providing new IT, Design and Technology facilities.

Structural Design Associates are pleased to be working with MMA Architects and Armsons Quantity Surveyors.

Belton House, Grantham

Working with Architects Rodney Melville & Partners, Structural Design Associates are pleased to have assisted in respect of the new Visitor Reception Building and the reorganisation of vehicle access and parking.  Construction was completed in September 2010 and was fully open to visitors in Spring 2011.

Further development at Belton House saw the formation of an indoor adventure play area within the shell of an existing building.  Work commenced on site in January 2012 with completion in April 2012.  Structural Design Associates are proud to continue our working relationship directly with the National Trust.

Donna Louise Trust Children's Hospice

As part of our commitment to community projects, Structural Design Associates worked with the Donna Louise Trust, and in particular the Burton Group of Friends, to provide a shelter within the gardens of the hospice.

The simple structure, of douglas fir framing under a cedar shingle roof will provide shelter from sun and showers enabling children to benefit from the outdoor space.

We were pleased to gift our services to such a cause, and hope that the Burton Pavilion gives many years of service.

We would be pleased to receive applications from Senior/Chartered Engineers with UK experience of building structures and infrastructure.

Applications by e-mail or post for the attention of the Managing Director.

Software Investment:

Key to our continued ability to provide efficient, cost-effective structural solutions is our ongoing investment in appropriate design and drawing software.

We have recently purchased Revit Structure, Building Information Modelling (BIM) software to integrate with our existing Fastrak and Building Designer packages.  The use of BIM across all design team disciplines is seen as the way forward, and we are to embrace this technology sooner rather than later for the benefit of our Clients.

West Bromwich Albion Football Club - Elite Player Performance Plan
